What is Pinoy Dream Academy?
Pinoy Dream Academy is another collaborative show of Endemol and ABS-CBN just like the Pinoy Big Brother and Deal or No Deal franchises. This show gives oppurtunities to star wannabees to reach stardom and maximize their star potentials.
Originally known as Star Academy, its emerging popularity brought about its franchises in various part of the world. Africa refers to it as Project Fame while in the US it’s touted as The One: Making a Music Star. Other countries who caught the Star Academy fever are the UK, Turkey, Spain, Russia, Romania, Portugal, the Netherlands, Middle East, Mexico, Italy, India, Greece, Germany, France, Chile, Canada, Bulgaria, Brazil, Belgium, and Argentina.
In spite of the various names that its been called in each country, the mechanics are basically the same, wherein the “academy” is being managed by a principal and teachers are there to teach the students various artistic disciplines. Day and night the students will be monitored by hidden cameras and there would be weekly live performances of the students where they will showcase the things they have learned and practiced in the past week. During the concert, a panel of jurors will choose the students who will be nominated for the week. The public then gets to vote for the student they want to remain at the academy.
Star Academy is actually the second biggest reality show franchise in the world - the top being Big Brother; and soon will invade the Philippines television.
Recent promotions on ABS-CBN reveal Sam Milby, Toni Gonzaga, and Nikki Gil as the hosts of the show which will starting in August.

PDA is one of the best shows I've ever seen. However, teacher's are a bit unfair! They'll have to look at the over all performance of each scholar rather than on a GALA night's only. Otherwise, Rosita will just keep on doing the same thing over and over again. What I meant is she will just keep on fooling her teachers and co-scholars during the weekdays and will just 'perform' during GALA night. Anyway, teacher's will still save her (that is the idea Rosita is looking at). In fairness with Rosita, she is a very good performer. She only have an attitude problem. If you have a problem on attitude, then there is no future for you, even how tough you are. So please, if teachers wanted to give her a break, there are a lot of opputunity for her. Be fair with other scholars who are very interested and is performing througout the academy.

last gala performance the theme is "rock" bakit si Rosita lang ang hindi sumunod sa theme meron ba special treatment for Rosita, kung magaling na singer sya dapat kaya nya mag perform ano man ang ipakanta sa kanya. Sayang maganda pa naman itinuturo nila sa academy pero di sila patas sa lahat ng scholars. PDA labanan ng boses hindi awa.

1. CHAD I think this boy, deserve to be included in final 6 nor 4 pa nga. Aside from having good looks hindi rin naman napapahuli yung voice nya. Ang maganda kay Chad, marami ang nag aabang kung ano bago sa ipapakita nya every Gala Night. Lagi may charisma at appeal bawat movement nya. Fresh lagi ang pinapakita nya sa bawat performance nya. Ang tao di siya pinagsasawaan at lagi na eexcite sa kanya.
2. Yeng I can compare here to Kitchi Nadal, aminin na natin na maganda ang boses nya. At tumatagal lalo siyang kinakikitaan ng confidence sa sarili na lalo naman nakakatulong sa kanya. Iwasan mo lang masyado umarte at mag hands gesture. Nagiging OA na rin kasi minsan.
3. RONNIE Aside of having good looks, masasabing look a like ka din ni Ariel Rivera. Sa style ng pagkanta mo at timbre ng boses mo.
Try mo lang din experiment ng ibang style.
4. ROSITA Ayaw man tanggapin ng iba, pero sa totoo lang maganda ang boses mo. Pagdating sa biritan. Kaya lang na notice na pare-pareho lang ang klasi ng kinakanta mo. Tingin tuloy na your trying to be safe lang lagi. Hindi ka nakikipagsabayan sa kung ano ang klase ng kinakanta ng lahat. Lagi kang kakaiba at laging pabor sayo.
5. PANKY Maganda ang boses mo. Pero hindi ang tipo ng boses mo ang magugustuhan ng maraming tao. I cant imagine kung pakantahin ka ng something sweet like yung mga kanta ni Britney Spear, Paris Hilton, kayanin kaya ng boses mo na ibagay dito. At isa pa, anoman ganda ng boses mo kung arrogant ka namn, hindi mo mapipilit ang tao na magustuhan ko. You even dont have any charisma sa tao. Just in case ikaw ang manalo, sorry for ABSCBN dahil we really dont know kung mapapasikat ka nila.
IRISH Nice pretty face. Gusto ko rin yung pagiging fighter mo. Kaya lang hindi ganun ka ganda yung boses mo.
JOAN To tell you honestly, hindi ko type yung boses mo. Common marami nang gumagawa ng ganyan. Wala kang sariling style. If you want to be a singer try to improve din your physical appearance mo. Kasi sa totoo lang yun din ang unang nakikita ng tao.
DAVEY Sa totoo lang maganda ang boses mo. Aminin lang natin na hindi ka favorite sa loob ng academy ng mga teachers mo. Kulang ka sa exposure.
JR Dont worry hindi kaman mapasama sa final 6, im sure may lugar ka sa ROCK world,
EMMAN Same with Emman, sa ROCK world kayo na babagay.
YVAN Isa ka sa may pinaka magandang boses sa loob ng academy. Im sure makakasama ka sa final 6. Ikaw yung tipo ng hindi naman ka gwapuhan pero ang napapasin syo hindi physical kundi yung talent mo sa pagkanta.
TEACHERS/MANAGEMENT Try to be fair lang. Sinasabi nyo na hindi napapansin at nakikilala ng tao yung ibang scholars (like Davey, Emman) pero hindi nyo naman talaga sila binibigyan ng exposure. Si Rosita laging kakaiba pag GALA NIGHT, laging pabor sa kanya ang binibigay nyong kanta. Samantalang sa iba laging they trying to adjust kahit sa umpisa pa lang alam na nilang hindi bagay yung kanta sa kanila, pinipilit nilang bigyan ng justice. (like what happen to Chad, Irish, Emman, JR, Ronnie, Kristoff) Kasi alam nilang contest ito. Pero bakit si Rosita pare parehong biritan at style ng kantang binibigay nyo. Masyado kayong halata na.
YVAN singer/songwriter/guitarist-also played piano.. I am so looking forward on seeing a 1 on 1 showdown between YVAN & YENG... that is if they are really looking for a REAL TALENT!!!

Im an avid viewer of PDA. I just noticed that your basis (text voting) of the songwriting contest is no more reliable.
All the 3 credits went to yeng..no doubt she's talented, yes.
but for sure, u know that there are songs better than her composed by the other scholars...
I believe in your goal on raising the songwriting- that is to discover quality songs.
If you'll base it on text voting, that made ur goal no sense..
we can just say that it is based on popularity..

It was superbly depressing when Yvan was eliminated on the last eviction night. He is the best singer among the scholars. We already expected Rosita to be removed since she has the least talent among them and very self-pity and supersensitive which doesn't place her in showbiz. Among the 6 left, JR is the best in voice, look and guts. Panky has her disadvantage(weight & gender), Yen for her great composition, Chad and Irish have good looks and Ronnie has to practice more for high notes and variable type of music. We still remember Davey for his great voice too, but sorry he is already out.
