Hi! Well, the pot’s brewing here…Just wanna add a little neutralizer. I like Irish. A lot. People seem to have been making criticisms of three aspects of Irish. Her looks, her voice, and her attitude. I respect everything you have said and those which you will still be saying…I don’t at all the deny that there are truths in some of those, specially in the attitude part. But have a firmer base from which you can build your criticisms…
To the critics of her looks:
Irish appears to be a head turner, at least for me…and I guess the same is true for a considerable number of people. She looks old because of the big and dark pouches below her eyes. But to say that she looks 30, I think, is a hopeless exaggeration with a slight overtone (quite an irony here) of envy.. Next, to say that she is fat.. Well, she certainly has gained weight inside the academy…but as for me, “fat” is not the proper term for it…The pertinent, if not perfect term, is “voluptuous.” She is full where a woman wants herself to be full. She has a bigger tummy now. But because of that, all the more I trust her sexiness because she still looks sexy despite it. I mean, her sexiness doesn’t wear out just because of the accumulation of fat…People still find her sexy and pretty. Sexy does not always have to mean having a “fat-free” body. It is the way one handles oneself.
To the critics of her voice:
More than the beauty, she has the voice. To the person/s who mentioned about Irish having this “ah!ok! voice”, I kinda agree with you. Her voice is not that exceptional.. But the same is true for the other, but not all, scholars. Despite that, she still stands out. That’s because the voice does not suffice.. It’s the complete synergy of the voice, beauty, and attitude that matters. You can refute me by saying “yeah, she has the voice and beauty but not the attitude..” I’ll deal with that later. The fact that she knows how to play the violin is a big WOW…’Cause only a few can do that. Her voice may not be a showstopper but her prowess in violin is. I think I have the reason to believe that when she first played the violin, we were all dumbstruck not only because she played something different, but also she played it in a rather “soothing” way. I don’t think her voice is like that of a “smoker.” The academy doesn’t want a ghost singer. It also doesn’t want a mere ramp model. Irish has the makings of both. Though not fully developed. That maybe the reason she got in. It’s precisely this that the academy wants to polish. It is the raison d’être of the academy—to ripen the raw.
To the critics of her attitude:
First, consider this…She was brought up in the States. There are those who say that such does not excuse her from doing very different, as they say “malandi” acts because there are people who were brought up in US but they do not display such overt behaviors. I think those people are more the exception than the rule. We are judging her based on our value system, which’s why she appears quite deviant. But look at it from another perspective. Would you not be look at the same way, I mean, as a sort of an alien if you display distinctively Filipino behavior when you’re in an away fixture? To those who say that she should be responsible, kudos to you guys, I definitely agree with you. But still, having grown accustomed to a set of values, and then suddenly being put in a different setting requires adjustment… One cannot abruptly shed off the thick layer that has formed. It’s the same thing with Michelle. She appears to be always in this “meditative” state (sorry for the lack of term) but such is fashioned by her own acculturation. Lucky her, that behavior is quite acceptable here in the Philippines. Unfortunately, people do not find Irish’s case forgivable. We just can’t understand Irish. Thus far, I understand her. But I wish that after some period of gestation, she’d be less “spicy” in the way she speaks or acts. That won’t do any harm.
Extra things:
People, if we use English, please be very careful with the grammar. Not that it’s bad to commit mistakes sometimes, it definitely is not. I myself might have made some in this. But it is also not bad to be correct.
People, if you dislike (I don’t want to use the word hate, because I believe you can’t really hate a person you haven’t even met) Irish because of her “inconsiderate” acts or/and “insensitive” words, please try to show that you are yourselves not like the one you are criticizing. I mean, we are more responsible for such because I assume most who have been writing here are raised here in the Philippines. It is less forgivable to speak in that manner ‘cause we are raised in a society that considers that as not-so-good, yet we do it. If it’s ok for us, then all the more it should be for Irish who hasn’t been raised here.
I commend those people who like Irish yet stayed cool amidst the brewing. To those who like Irish (I’m one of you guys), let’s just stay cool. Don’t hit back… It’s up to you guys, though. This is just an advice anyway. Everybody has the right to say anything. But we (meaning including me, and even Irish) overemphasize that right sometimes… that’s the reason you don’t like her right. But face the truth, we all do the same thing…be more reflective.

hi again anonymous. I'm starting to get awkward calling you anonymous..hehe...anyway, i agree!!! the reason we dislike some people is either we see ourselves in them or we see what we can never be. "if" the haters see themselves (at least some aspects like pagiging frank and all) in Irish, i think, they end up seeing that they can never be like her. I mean, they see some aspects of their personality being shown before their very eyes. that doesn't cause the dislike. what causes it is the fact that these people realize that though they are like her, they can never be close to being her.. and that is frustrating...it's like seeing your reflection in the mirror...only to realize it's better than you that you end up hoping you are the reflection...ending? you hate the image...
